While the National Weather Service has had some misses in its forecasting, it seems pretty confident that the series of storms forecast for the Lake Tahoe area next week are going to bring some serious snow. The Mammoth Dweeb report likens the upcoming series of storms to the patterns seen back in the El Nino years, and is talking in the 8-12 foot range in the Mammoth crest. I’ve been hearing the words ’10 feet’ mentioned for Tahoe. While that may be optimistic, it’s not impossible, so I’m remaining guardedly optimistic.
"A SERIES OF PACIFIC STORMS ARE LIKELY TO IMPACT THE CALIFORNIA AND NEVADA BEGINNING SUNDAY ANDLASTING THROUGH NEXT WEEK... SEVERAL FEET OF SNOW IS LIKELY IN THE SIERRA NEXT WEEK... THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS."
It appears Mother Nature has finally timed the snow with my birthday next week. After a couple of years of June-uary birthdays, I’m pretty excited. If anyone’s looking to get me a gift, I don’t have a snorkel. I hear that may be necessary next week.
