A Life Full of Regret?

I just read an article in our local paper about a longtime Post Office employee (often mistaken for the Postmaster General) who is retiring this week after 22 years at the South Lake Tahoe branch. His quote (below) really struck me, as it seems like such a waste of a life.

I’ve never been able to experience and appreciate Lake Tahoe.

Why live in a particular place if you can’t enjoy it until you retire? I mean, it’s not like those of us who live here do so for the enormous earning power we have.  It’s for the quality of life – seeing Lake Tahoe on a daily basis, being able to walk the dog in a meadow a block from the house, having a 2.1 mile bike ride to work, and knowing that it only takes you 20 minutes to get to your local ski resort.
