What a Difference a Day Makes

From the warm camaraderie of Sierra on Friday to the aggressive nastiness I encountered at Heavenly on Saturday, the difference in attitudes (and snow conditions, ironically) between mid-week and weekend folks is astounding. Yes, the drive up was probably difficult, and they were probably gagging to ski the light fluff that the snowphone report promised, but does it really require such behavior?

And the snow conditions at Heavenly, which was where I witnessed a surly snowboarder and a shrill older woman jostling for the first chair, were not nearly what they had been the day before. Didn’t these folks realize that everything had been open and skied out already? They did receive their karmic payback when I passed them on the traverse to the area they were futilely attempting to reach first.
